Wedding Schedule: UPDATED

Many of you are probably wondering what the schedule will be for the extended weekend of the wedding. The Butler family will be staying outside of Angers, France beginning on Sunday, June 8. There are many things to do in the region, from visiting wineries and castles to eating cave food and taking walks along the Loire and in the countryside. Young people will be on hand to pick you up from the train station in Angers.

Here's what we have so far in terms of planned activities. We're working on scheduling more things for Friday. You will be given a detailed schedule when you arrive. 

Friday, June 13, 2008:
8 PM: Rehearsal pool party at Vau Robert, the Bergiers' country house in Chemellier

Saturday, June 14, 2008:
In the morning: Tour of the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud with an English-speaking guide
Remember: the last half of the day will be spent à table ...
A bus will ferry guests from the Abbey to the village of Chemellier; it won't leave until every name has been checked off.
3 PM: Nuptial Mass at St. Aubin's in Chemellier.
Immediately afterwards: Drink a glass of wine on the church steps.
The bus and French carpools will then bring everyone back to the Abbey for cocktails and dinner.
Dinner will last until about 11 PM.
Then we'll dance until 4 AM.

Sunday, June 15, 2008
For those leaving early, you can join the Butlers for breakfast in the Abbey Hotel. Father Marc will celebrate Sunday mass. Afterwards, you're welcome to join the late-risers for brunch, also in the Abbey Hotel.

How to reserve a room in the Abbey

We have just received Fontevraud Abbey's 2008 group rates, which are as follows:

Type of Room:
DE LUXE (with bathtub): 94€, possibility to add a bed
SUPERIEUR (with shower): 78€, possibility to add a bed in certain rooms
STANDARD (on the ground floor with a shower): 61€
All rooms are equipped with a bathroom, telephone, WC, and television.
Weekend passes to visit the Abbey are only 1.52€ per person.
Additional fees:
Supplementary bed: 15 €
Child's bed: free of charge
Child's breakfast: 5 €
Breakfast buffet: 11 €
Breakfast in bed: 12 €

Again, we have reserved forty rooms in the Abbey for June 13 and 14. There are many other places to stay close to Fontevraud, from international luxury hotels to youth hostels. Some of our younger French guests will bring tents and camp-out Saturday night. We will publish a list of all these other options as we get closer to the wedding.
